God, Giver of all that is good,
we thank you for giving Mary Ward
to the Church and to all people.
Impelled by the fire of your love
she did not shrink from risks,
labours or sufferings.
She lived and worked for your greater glory
and for the good of the Church,
for the propagation of faith,
and for the dignity of women.
She was consolation for the sick, help for the poor.
through the solemn testimony of the Church,
the example of her life
may become a light for many people.
We ask this grace through our Lord,
Friend and Master, Jesus Christ.
God Almighty, Who always sympathise with us, we turn to You as individuals and as a community. Please grant ud that we could accept each other more fully, we could sympathise with each other and could heal the sufferings of the world together.
Please make us understand that charity, hospitality and unity are in fact Your will to all humans.
We pray that You grant us peace, and teach us how to build a tolerant world without aggression.
Please grant us the wisdom to be able to differentiate wisely, and to want unity despite all our differences.
We pray that You make our Churches able to be places of openness where everyone can experience tolerance, forgiveness, joy and faith in Jesus.
The Baptism and Testing of Jesus
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:9-11New International Version (NIV)
A Renewal of Baptismal Promises
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever.
