Loreto Convent Darjeeling is an English-medium all girls high school in, Darjeeling, West Bengal, India .It is a Catholic Institution under the management of the Darjeeling Loreto Education Society . The School is recognized by the Education Department of the Government West Bengal affiliated to the Indian Council for Secondary Education (I.C.S.E., I.S.C.).
The school was established during in 1846 and was the only educational Institution at that time. Around 120 students graduate from our school every year. The school began with a boarding and had a number of international students in the past. However since 1989 the school closed its boarding and is now a Day School catering mainly for the local students of Darjeeling. Around 40 % of our school students come from families having low and middle income.
The school begins from lower Kindergarten (4+ ) and goes right upto Class XII( 16+) . The total Strength of the school is 1625.
When students come to Loreto Convent, they benefit from the spiritual, academic, and extracurricular activities. They are also blessed by the rich opportunities to enjoy the best of many worlds.
The School has a vibrant JPIC Club and a SAT (Students Against Trafficking) Club working towards bringing awareness and change in the society. The School also has also adopted a small village where the migrant workers from Nepal live, most of who are daily wage earners. Students give their time on weekends to help in coaching the disadvantaged children belonging to these families of migrant workers. The students also collect raw food materials like rice, lentil, sugar, etc and we distribute it to the families every month.
